FreePint is a global community of 79,000
information professionals.
Willco Modules provide the technology behind all sections of the FreePint Web site, including:
- Lists: the FreePint Newsletter (circulation 79,000) and Bar Digests (circulation 15,500
) are distributed using the Lists Module.
- Forums: The FreePint Bar and FreePint Student Bar use the Forums Module. Digests for the forms are circulated using the Lists Module.
- Publication Management: The management of the publishing schedule for Newsletters, Updates and Digests is handled by the Pub Module.
- Member Management: Subscription and member management is handled by the Member Module and Admin Module.
- Commerce: Payment for report purchases, job listings and other purchases are handled using scripts which are being developed into a Shop Module.
- Advertising: Banner advertising can be section-specific (e.g. only showing at the FreePint Bar) or page-location specific (e.g. showing at the top of the page or on the side). Advertisers have username/password access to realtime display and click-through statistics.
- Content Management: Publicly accessible databases (e.g. Portal and Events) use tailored scripts. These are currently being standardised into a database management module.
- Sub-domains: FreePint pages on the Willco server are referenced using the sub-domain 'web.freepint.com' (note 'web.' instead of 'www.'). Most users will never notice that the URL has changed when they access the extra functionality like the Bar, Jobs or Financials databases. Willco Modules are therefore seamlessly and transparently integrated into the FreePint site, whilst actually remaining on the Willco server.
As can be seen, Willco's technology provision is transparent -- FreePint members are not aware that Willco is providing the technology behind the scenes.
